The Gambiarra poster seeks to represent the culture and the inventive characteristic of Brazilian people. With a unsual framing, the poster recalls one of the dozens of improvised popular inventions (gambiarras, aka life hacks), typical of Brazil's middle-class homes: attaching a steel sponge to the TV antenna to improve its signal. The inspiration for this piece comes from my childhood, where this habit was part of the daily life of my family.
The way the steel sponge and the antenna were photographed intends to visually refer to an old microphone, making creativity (represented by the gambiarra itself) the voice and identity of brazilians.
The Gambiarra poster participated in the 29th MCB Award, in the Poster category.
